Manseokryeok

Lifetime fortune via Four Pillars

What is Manseokryeok

Manseokryeok (万歳暋) is a Korean traditional Saju Myeongri (Four Pillars of Destiny) system that comprehensively analyzes lifetime fortune based on birth date, time, and gender. 'Manse' means 'ten thousand years,' reflecting the precise astronomical and calendrical rules underlying the system.

Manseokryeok calculates the Four Pillars (Year, Month, Day, Hour pillars) from the birth date, then places Ten Stars and Twelve Stages around the Day Stem to identify the individual's basic nature and life trajectory. Daewun (10-year cycles) and Seewun (annual fortune) are added to interpret the timing of life's changes.

Four Pillars and Ten Stars

The Four Pillars (四柱八字) convert the birth date into four pillars (Year, Month, Day, Hour) expressed as eight characters (4 Heavenly Stems + 4 Earthly Branches). The Day Stem represents the self, and Ten Stars are determined by its Five Elements relationship with other stems and branches.

Ten Stars consist of Bi-gyeon, Geob-jae, Sik-sin, Sang-gwan, Pyeon-jae, Jeong-jae, Pyeon-gwan, Jeong-gwan, Pyeon-in, and Jeong-in, each governing life domains such as relationships, wealth, honor, knowledge, and expression. The auspiciousness of each star varies depending on the Day Stem strength (Wang, Sang, Pyeong, Yak, Soe).

Twelve Stages, Daewun and Seewun

The Twelve Stages (十二運星) express the life cycle in 12 phases (Jang-saeng, Mok-yong, Gwan-dae, Geon-rok, Je-wang, Soe, Byeong, Sa, Myo, Jeol, Tae, Yang), showing which developmental stage each Earthly Branch occupies relative to the Day Stem. They are placed on the Year, Month, Day, and Hour branches to analyze life cycles in detail.

Daewun (大運) is a 10-year fortune cycle starting from the Month Pillar, progressing forward for Yang-male/Yin-female and reverse for Yin-male/Yang-female. Seewun (歲運) is the annual fortune, judged by its Ten Stars relationship with the current Daewun. The harmony of Daewun and Seewun reveals timing of opportunities and cautions.

Cautions

Manseokryeok is a traditional Saju analysis based on classics such as Sammyeongtonghoe, Yeonhaejapyeong, and Jeokcheonsu, for reference only. Interpretation comprehensively considers Day Stem strength, Five Elements balance, Ten Stars placement, and Daewun/Seewun flow. Even unfavorable stars or periods can be supplemented through action guidelines. Use it as wisdom to understand your nature and life timing rather than relying on it excessively.
